Personality Disorders

I began working with individuals with personality disorders during my time in residential treatment and I learned that what people often refer to as “personality disorders” are what I call “trait inflexiblity.” Often times people struggle to show up with the trait that is most helpful for them when it is necessary. For example, someone should show up extremely confident and powerful as a CEO at work but that confident and powerful demeanor at home is not necessary. This often leads to relationship struggles. It is my method to teach trait flexibility and allow other aspects of people’s personalities shine through for a healthier more rounded individual and healthier more appropriate relationships.
