About Me
My name is Mamie Albritton, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a specialization in the treatment of Sexual Addiction, Personality Disorders, Relational Issues, and Trauma. I began my career in sexual addiction couples recovery as a family therapist at Pinegrove's Gratitude Program, a residential treatment facility for the rehabilitation of men that struggle with sexual compulsive issues. I later began to work with the addict and learned the value of systemic healing of the self, couple, and family. Through working in this field, I truly learned the value of boundaries, clear communication, and empathy development on the healing of interpersonal and intrapersonal issues. Because of this my style is very direct, emotionally focused, psycho-educational, and compassionate. I am an Associate Sex Addiction Therapist, Certified Personality Disorder Treatment Provider, Brain Spotting Practitioner, and trained in Gottman Level II. I am currently licensed in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, and Colorado. My services are private pay in order to provide clients with appropriate clinician directed care, not determined by insurance companies. However, I am happy to assist with the insurance reimbursement process.
Why I do what I do
I have always known that I wanted to help people, I just didn’t realize how until I met a very supportive teacher who taught me that support is sometimes all a person needs to succeed. Since then it has become my goal to be that support for as many people as will let me. In working in residential treatment I received the added benefit of people coming to me in their worst moments and getting to see daily transformation. It was a daily privilege, as is walking alongside people in outpatient therapy. I chose sexual addiction specifically because there is so much struggle to know who you are, experience your emotions, and be in relationships with other people which leads to a very lonely experience as both the addict and the partner of someone with addiction. In therapy however, you will have the opportunity to change your behaviors, change how you see yourself, and create or rebuild relationships that support and sustain you through out life.
